Alfred Hitchcock
Biografía
Director y productor de cine británico, nacionalizado estadounidense, autor de brillantes e ingeniosas películas, la mayoría de ellas thrillers psicológicos. En 1925 Hitchcock dirigió su primera película, El jardín de la alegría, al que pronto siguió El enemigo de las rubias (1926), ya en su línea de cine de suspense, y en el que mostraba su obsesión por un tipo de mujer característico. Entre sus otros éxitos iniciales en el Reino Unido están Los 39 escalones (1935), y Alarma en el Expreso (1939). Se trasladó a los Estados Unidos en 1939, donde dirigió películas tan famosas como Rebeca (1940), La sombra de una duda (1943), Encadenados (1946), La soga (1948), Extraños en un tren (1951), Yo confieso (1952), La ventana indiscreta (1954), Crimen perfecto (1954), El hombre que sabía demasiado (1955), Falso culpable (1957),De entre los muertos (Vértigo) (1958), Con la muerte en los talones (1959), Psicosis (1960), o Los pájaros (1963). Además de sus películas, Hitchcock realizó varias series de historias cortas y produjo dos series de enorme éxito para televisión: Alfred Hitchcock presenta (1959-1962) y La hora de Alfred Hitchcock (1963-1965), en la que aparecía como presentador, de voz sepulcral. En todas sus películas, apareció en brevísimos papeles, sin texto, costumbre que despertaba siempre la curiosidad de los aficionados. Como director, Hitchcock ha sido alabado sobre todo por su ingenio, su impecable y muy estilizada técnica cinematográfica y por su afición a lo macabro y a lo escalofriante, utilizando elementos psicológicos y otros de gran impacto visual para crear el ambiente apropiado. Es sin duda, el maestro del suspense y uno de los más dotados artífices de la historia del cine. Aunque estuvo nominado en cuatro ocasiones, nunca obtuvo el Oscar como director.
