Woody Allen
Biografía
Escritor, actor y director de cine estadounidense, cuyos personalísimos filmes son a menudo satíricas descripciones de neuróticos personajes urbanos, obsesionados por el amor y la muerte. Nació en el Bronx, New York, el 1 de diciembre de 1935, Allan Stewart Konigsberg, pésimo estudiante, comenzó a escribir chistes para columnistas de prensa a los quince años, usando el seudónimo de Woody Allen. Después escribiría para artistas de radio y televisión, y se unió al equipo del humorista televisivo Sid Caesar después de terminar sus estudios secundarios. Desde 1961 a 1964 trabajó como humorista en nightclubs, donde fue descubierto y contratado por el productor de cine Charles K. Feldman para escribir y actuar en ¿Qué tal, Pussycat? (1965), de Clive Donner. Su primera película como director fue Lily la tigresa (1966), a la que seguirían Toma el dinero y corre (1969), Bananas (1971), Todo lo que siempre quiso saber sobre el sexo y nunca se atrevió a preguntar (1972) y El dormilón (1973), siempre con Allen en su papel característico de antihéroe torpe y aturdido. Abordó asuntos más serios en sus siguientes realizaciones: La última noche de Boris Grushenko (1975) y Annie Hall (1977), que ganó cuatro oscars (mejor película, director, guión y actriz principal), ambas protagonizadas por Diane Keaton, que hizo pareja con Allen en la mayoría de sus películas de esta época. Más adelante realizaría Interiores (1978), un sombrío drama psicológico, Manhattan (1979), que marca su vuelta a la comedia, Recuerdos (1980), un trabajo claramente autobiográfico, y La comedia sexual de una noche de verano (1982), la primera película con Mia Farrow, su futura compañera, de la que se separó en 1994. El resto de las películas de Woody Allen son: Zelig (1983), Broadway Danny Rose (1984), La rosa púrpura de El Cairo (1985), Hannah y sus hermanas (1986), Días de radio (1987), Septiembre (1987), Otra mujer (1988), Delitos y faltas (1989), Alice (1990), Sombras y niebla (1991), Maridos y mujeres (1992), Misterioso asesinato en Manhattan (1993), Balas sobre Broadway (1994) y Poderosa Afrodita (1995). También ha escrito y actuado en dos obras de teatro: Los USA en zona rusa (1966, llevada al cine en 1969) y Sueños de seductor (1969, película en 1972); también ha publicado dos colecciones de narraciones humorísticas, Getting Even (1971) y Sin plumas (1976).
