James Cameron
Biografía
Director, productor y guionista estadounidense, nombre imprescindible del género de ciencia ficción. Nació en Kapuskasing (Ontario, Canadá), pero pronto se trasladó con su familia a Estados Unidos. Su primera película como director fue Piraña II, los vampiros del mar (1981), producida por los estudios de Roger Corman. A la vuelta del rodaje, escribió un guión acerca de un robot asesino que venía del futuro y vendió los derechos por un dólar con la condición de dirigir él la película. Así surgió Terminator (1984), protagonizada por Arnold Schwarzenegger, que a pesar de su modesto presupuesto, se convirtió en un éxito de crítica y público y en su pasaporte de entrada a las grandes superproducciones de efectos especiales. Entre otras muchas, ha dirigido Aliens, el regreso (1986), Abyss (1989), Terminator 2 (1991) y Mentiras arriesgadas (1994). Su mayor éxito de taquilla, Titanic (1997), logró la cifra récord de 11 premios Oscar de la Academia de Hollywood.
