Tim Burton
Biografía
Director y productor de cine estadounidense. El humor negro y una estética inspirada en el cómic son el sello de identidad de muchas de sus películas, como la comedia fantástica Bitelchús (1988) o Batman (1989). Antes de dirigir su primer largometraje, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (1985), Burton trabajó en el departamento de animación de la productora Walt Disney. Allí realizó varios cortometrajes experimentales entre los que se incluye el premiado Vincent (1982), narrado por Vincent Price. En 1990 estrenó Eduardo manostijeras, una fábula suburbana en la que desplegó todo su mundo de fantasía gótica. Ed Wood (1994), una película rodada en blanco y negro sobre la vida de uno de los peores directores de la historia del cine, fue muy aclamada por la crítica. Su filme Mars Attacks (1996) es una sátira del cine de ciencia ficción. Otros títulos de su filmografía son: Sleepy Hollow (1999) y El planeta de los simios (2001), una nueva versión del clásico de Franklin J. Schaffner. A principios de la década de 1990, Burton pasó a compaginar la dirección con la actividad de productor. En la Disney supervisó la producción de Pesadilla antes de Navidad (1993, de Henry Selick), basada en una historia suya, que se convertiría en la primera película de animación hecha con plastilina realizada por la famosa compañía. Otros títulos como productor incluyen Batman Forever (1995, de Joel Schumacher) y James y el melocotón gigante (1996, de Selick).
